Celebrity Cruises Reports 65% Increase in Australian Passengers in Alaska

As the cruise season kicks off in Alaska this week, Celebrity Cruises has reported a record number of Australian bookings -- an increase of 65 per cent year on year -- with more than 5,500 Australians expected to cruise in Alaska on Celebrity ships in 2016.

“It’s natural to see ebbs and flows in cruising trends, and while there has always been a steady flow of Australians making the trip to Vancouver, Seattle or Seward in Alaska to experience this beautiful part of the world by cruise ship, 2016 has seen an unprecedented level of interest for Celebrity Cruises,” said Adam Armstrong, commercial director, Celebrity Cruises Australia.

Two of the line’s three ships sailing in Alaska this season are well known down under -- Celebrity Solstice, which has just departed its Sydney home port for the fourth consecutive summer season, and Celebrity Millennium, a regular visitor on its Asia Pacific voyages.

The refurbished Celebrity Infinity will also join the Alaska fleet this year.

Celebrity Solstice departed Vancouver yesterday on its first Alaskan sailing for 2016, however there are still some available cabins for last-minute bookings.
