Interview with the Vampire remake: Jared Leto is screenwriters pick to play Lestat

HE’S an Oscar-winning actor but fans of Interview with the Vampire say he is a bad choice to step into Tom Cruise’s shoes as Lestat for the film’s remake.

It’s been announced a modern take on the 1994 movie is in the works, with director Josh Boone adapting the famous novels by Anne Rice.
The Sun reports that filling the undead shoes of Lestat is Oscar winner Jared Leto.
Seems like a reasonable choice - but many fans weren’t thrilled with the idea.
One wrote on the Instagram post: “I might give it a shot if a trailer looks good or something, but if Jared Leto is your Lestat I’m a bit meh.”
Fans took to Twitter to vent some fury too.
“After reading this I thought it might be better & certainly different if Margot Robbie played Lestat as a male vampire,” one wrote.
Minazi added simply: “My poor heart.”
Some were furious that Boone and writing partner Jill Killington had the cheek to rescript a movie written by the author of the original books.
One Instagram user fumed: “HORRIBLE idea!!! Plus no one can write a script better than Anne Rice herself. NO!”
“ Interview with the Vampire 94 was perfection. I mean Anne Rice wrote the script. And you can only go down from there. But a Vampire Lestat movie would a very welcome movie by all Vampire Chronicles fans,” another fan wrote.
But Anne Rice’s son Christopher, a best-selling author himself, approved of the remake.
