CroisiEurope inaugurates Elbe paddlewheeler

The paddlewheeler was christened on the outskirts of Berlin.

French river cruise company CroisiEurope christened its second European padddlewheeler on Thursday, the 79-passenger Elbe Princesse.
The ship was christened on the outskirts of Berlin and will begin sailing along the Elbe and Vltava rivers between Berlin and Prague, Czech Republic, on April 19.

The Elbe Princesse was designed with a lower draft and two small paddlewheels at the aft of the vessel in order to better navigate the shallower waters of the Elbe River. Its adapted size also allows it to moor closer to some city centers, such as in Prague. It joins CroisiEurope’s other paddlewheeler, the Loire Princesse, which launched last year on France’s Loire River and features two small paddlewheels on the sides of the vessel.

The Elbe Princesse measures 313 feet long and 33 feet wide and has two decks with 40 outside-facing cabins. The staterooms are outfitted with air conditioning and heating, flatscreen TVs, a radio, hair dryer and safe. There is also a panoramic restaurant that serves single seating meals; a lounge area with a bar and dance floor; and a sun deck outfitted with lounge chairs. There is WiFi onboard as well.
