JOHNNY Depp’s teenage daughter has spoken out following claims her dad assaulted estranged wife Amber Heard.
“My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know,” she wrote. “He’s been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same.”
The teenager’s public support of her father came as her mother Vanessa Paradis also backed the embattled star.
Paradis, who was in a relationship with Depp for 14 years, described the father of her two children as “sensitive and loving”.
In a note obtained by TMZ, the French actress wrote a letter that branded Heard’s claims “outrageous”.
“In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me,” wrote Paradis, “and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years.”
Paradis, who was in a relationship with Depp from 1998 to 2012, said that he was “the father of my children and is a sensitive, loving and loved person”.
The note was dated May 27 in Los Angeles and signed by Paradis.
The notoriously private couple never married, and lived in France for much of their relationship.
Paradis’ view of Depp aligns with that of his first wife Lori Anne Allison, who said the star would “never assault a woman”.
Allison told TMZ Depp is a “soft person” who is kind to animals.
In more bad news for Depp, his latest film Alice Through the Looking Glass bombed over the US Memorial Day weekend taking just $US28.1 million ($39 million) through Sunday in North American cinemas.
The poorly reviewed Alice in Wonderland sequel had been expected to open with around $US60 million ($83 million). It cost some $US170 million ($236 million) to make.
Depp’s estranged wife Amber Heard filed for divorce last week.
The actress said she had been the victim of at least three domestic abuse incidents in the past six months at the hands of the actor.
In court documents, where she details the alleged violence during their 15-month marriage, Heard said she “lived in fear” of the Pirates of the Caribbean star and the idea he could return to the Los Angeles home they shared to “terrorise me physically and emotionally”.
The actress and her lawyer Samantha Spector appeared at a Los Angeles court late last week, where she filed for a domestic violence restraining order, after alleging Depp had hit her with his iPhone.
A police report revealed they did attend to reports of a disturbance on the night in question but found “no evidence” of a crime and Heard did not press charges.
Depp had left the scene when police arrived at the mansion after a friend of the actress called emergency services when she raised the alarm.
Depp has denied the accusations with a spokesman saying: “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life.
“Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”
Depp was slapped with a restraining order ahead of another court date next month in what is looming as a bitter divorce case.
Depp did not attend court as he was in Portugal promoting Alice Through the Looking Glass and performing with his band, Hollywood Vampires which also features Alice Cooper and Aerosmith rocker, Joe Perry.
